There are a lot of options available for General Academic Strand graduates
There is a misconception that GAS graduates typically will not have better opportunities than that of ABM or STEM but this is not true. The academic path followed by GAS is holistic as it covers subjects on communication, medial literacy, computer literacy and so much more. That means you are introduced to a variety of subjects allowing you to focus on specialized topics later on.
GAS graduates have typically worked in areas where research is done, where communication is very important, such as BPOs and in areas of education. The possibilities are endless now that online work is becoming popular in the Philippines.
With the right attitude, the right skill and the passion to learn any industry is possible. GAS graduates who specialized in English for example worked as Communication Manager for multinational companies. Those with extensive computer programming backgrounds worked as web developers.
In summary, the General Academic Strand allows you to be exposed to different areas, helping you decide which one to focus on at a later date (in college). But be warned, skills are only second to attitude. Most employers will look at your behavior first before your skills. So be passionate about what you do and do it well.
