Peter Jackson is a New Zealand film director, screenwriter, and film producer.
The movie “The Lovely Bones” was about a fourteen-year old girl who was brutally raped and murdered by their neighbor. Her soul has never been at peace and she continues to watch her family live and interact with her perpetrator.
I have actually watched it a few times, and I admit that I didn’t quite get it the first time. I knew that dear susie (the protagonist) was burdened by something, but I didn’t fully understand the details until after my third or fourth time. I genuinely felt sad for her as her youth was taken away in such an abrupt manner. She wasn’t able to feel and experience the joys and pains of her first love. As a student, I actually felt her loss and longing not only for her life but also for her family. She was also torn between her feelings about revenge and letting go. Eventually, she was able to move on and accept her fate.
Overall, the film was great but it may come as a bit boring at first. It also leaves us a valuable lesson about the importance of life, family and the little things in between. It was a happy ending as all the open issues were tied up. Susie’s soul was finally laid to rest. She was not able to get back to her old life, but in the end, the culprit finally got what he deserved.
